Since St. Louis Lambert International Airport is where my two sons set off on their around the world adventures–the first one left on an Easter Sunday morning in 2001, then son number two said goodby in August of 2003. So, what better setting to invite 60 people to a book launch party for “These Boys Are Killing Me: Travels And Travails With Sons Who Take Risks.” The airport provided drinks, a delicious dinner and a view of arriving and departing planes, plus a big sky where opportunity beckoned us to fly off to new or old places and learn about the world, its people and ourselves.
Below, at the book launch, I’m reading a section from “These Boys,” Marilyn is manning the book table, guests are milling around, and my son, who with his brother–is co-protagonist, adventurer, risk-taker, and shit disturber–signs books.
